Jesus brings worth to all who believe. Paul emphasizes the truth that we are saved by faith apart from works. He addresses both Jews and Gentiles, the circumcised and uncircumcised, reminding readers that Abraham was counted as righteous before he underwent physical circumcision, the physical marking of being a Jew. His righteousness was found by the circumcision of his heart—believing, trusting, and having faith in God when He instructed Abraham to go to a place He would reveal. Abraham acted on that faith by going, evidencing the work in His heart (James 1:22-24).

Circumcision was a sign representing an inner transformation. Today, because of Jesus, we have been sealed by the Spirit of God, and baptism serves as the outward symbol of that inner work (Colossians 2:11-12). We share in the blessings of Abraham because God is true to His word, and we are living evidence of this promise (Genesis 17:5). We belong to a family of faith, displaying the same faith that Abraham had—faith in the work of Jesus Christ, faith in the Word of God, who lived the life we could not and died the death we deserve. Now, we live.

Father, increase our faith. Help us to trust You regardless of our circumstances, knowing that You are present with us. Open our eyes to see Your love in this fallen world, and let us live out the joy of our salvation for others to witness. Thank You for being faithful to Your word; build our faith and help us recognize this truth.
